Water is very essential to our daily lives. Approximately  75 per cent is water in our body.

How Much Water Are You Drinking?
Water is great for your body, but don’t drink excess. It can prove to be fatal.
The following tips will help you in calculating your daily recommended intake of water. You will find out what amount of water should you actually drink:

1. Determine Your Weight
How much water you need will depend on your body weight. Isn’t it easy to understand that someone weight around 80 lbs shouldn’t be drinking the amount of water which is required by someone weight more than 300 lbs.

2. Calculation – Half Body Weight Rule
In this rule, find your exact weight and then divide it by half. This will give you the number of ounces of water you should be drinking daily.

So if you weigh 180 pounds, you should be drinking the 180/2 = 90 ounces of water daily.

3. Your Level of Physical Activity
The amount of water you need will also depend on your activity levels. Do you exercise regularly or do you spend most of your time at the desk? You may be an athlete or someone who goes to the gym or practices on the tracks.

The fact is that you may have any kind of lifestyle; it is going to have an impact on how much water you should be drinking daily.

Are you leading a highly active lifestyle? It means you sweat more. Make sure that you are adding 12 oz. of water every day for every half hour of your exercise (of any kind). So when you exercise of an hour every day, you must add another 24 oz. of water to your normal daily water intake.

The Simple Strategy
If you belong to that group that finds it difficult to always keep a track of the volume of water they are drinking, the following strategy should help you:
  • Drink just 2 cups of water before all your meals. This is going to give you 48 oz. of water per day.
  • Drink 1 glass of water the moment you wake up in the morning.
  • Also drink 1 glass of water a couple of hours before going to sleep.
  • Make sure that you always carry a bottle of water wherever you go (only non-plastic bottle).

These steps will help ensure that you are getting adequate amounts of water daily.
